Culture Night at Pearse Museum and St Enda’s Park

We look forward to seeing you on Culture Night 2023! Join us at 4pm for a guided tour of the 18th and 19th century follies placed around St Enda’s Park by the original owners, the Hudson family, to add drama and interest to the landscape.  When Patrick Pearse moved his school here in 1910, the follies found new life in the imagination of his pupils and as a backdrop to their open-air plays and pageants, and at 5pm take a guided tour of the highlights of Patrick Pearse’s groundbreaking school, St. Enda’s, where he created an educational environment unlike any other in Ireland at the time and attracted the interest and support of many of the leading Irish cultural figures of the early 20th century. Visitors can also view Slow Time with a Butterfly, an exhibition of exquisite woven tapestries by members of Contemporary Tapestry Artists, Ireland.

We are also delighted to collaborate with Tallaght Community Arts  and DoubleTAKE supported Arts Studio artists who will present their Advocacy through the Arts film and portrait installation We Will Not Sit Down ……..and Be Quiet! The Artist Advocates, many of whom have spent their entire lives living and working within Ireland’s institutionalised disability care sector, speak out about their rights. They do this not just for themselves but for those who are unable to and for those who follow in their footsteps. By siting the exhibition /installation at the OPW/Pearse Museum; – a place of arts, education and activism; a place borne of the desire to reclaim culture and identity a place steeped in Irish history; – our Artist Advocates stand shoulder to shoulder to claim their rights, demand respect and request your solidarity. Their film in the OPW/Pearse Museum Gallery is accompanied by an installation of the 17 advocate’s images on aluminium in the museum’s walled garden.
